Each of the Charters has the same wording. They read:
"Twinning Charter
Twinning between the towns of Newark-on-Trent and
Emmendingen / Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire / Sandomierz
We, the freely elected representatives of Newark-on-Trent
and Emmendingen / Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire / Sandomierz do
solemnly confirm the respective resolutions of our Town
Councils to forge a twinning link between our towns and
townsfolk in the spirit of sincere friendship and true
understanding.
Our citizens shall meet each other and establish closer
links in order to foster mutual understanding and
respect.
In order to attain this high aim both twinned towns wish
to establish links between our peoples, our towns and our
countries nurturing human and cultural relationships.
We shall endeavour by all legitimate means to maintain
the aims of peace and prosperity, and we sign this
document as a lasting promise in the interests of
community, brotherhood and European unity."
